Dance Classes start back Tues. Sept 8th
Hello DanceStation Families!
Just wanted to touch base with everyone before classes begin again next week, on Tues. September 8th. Please make sure you put your child’s initials in their shoes – a black sharpie works well inside ballet shoes (on the sides) and a gold or silver sharpie works well on the bottom of the tap shoe (or jazz shoe). Especially with younger children, their shoes all look very similar, so initials are very helpful! We are also requesting names on all water bottles this year. We have had a graveyard of metal and plastic waterbottles for the last several years, and we would love to make sure they return to their owners this year. Please label all water bottles that walk through our doors this year! Make sure you download our free app and allow notifications! For those of you with newer androids that could not find the DanceStation app previously, that has been fixed and it should be available across all devices now! The app is how I send out important reminders and the monthy newsletters. The studio calendar will be updated by this coming Monday to show the 2026-27 season – and a paper copy will be sent home on the first class. Lastly here is a reminder of our dress code for next week’s classes! Hair in buns for all ballet/pointe students in Ballet 2 and up is part of the dress code. Can’t wait to see everyone!!!
Dress Code–
*Pre/K and 5/6 yr old classes – pink ballet shoes (Bloch Giselle are great because there is no drawstring to adjust), black Mary Jane tap shoes like Capezio Shuffle or Tyette (no need for the full size lace up taps yet), pink tights, any solid color leotard (skirt attached is fine)
*Ballet/Jazz/Tap Combination classes – pink ballet shoes (please look for split soled ballet shoes like the Hanami or Performa), black Mary Jane tap shoes (not the full lace up taps), can use ballet shoes for the jazz section of class, solid color leotard (skirt attached is fine).
*Ballet 2 and up – dancers must wear their hair in a bun to class – it is part of our dress code. Pink ballet shoes should be split-soled (not the full leather soles) and canvas are preferred but leather is fine as well as long as they are pink, pink tights, a black camisole leotard is highly encouraged – we use them a lot, but any solid color leotard is fine.
*Boys in ballet/tap/jazz/modern classes– black tights or leggings and black or white t-shirt.
*Boys in Hip Hop – sports shorts, sweats or pants, plain t-shirt or Dri-fit/sports style shirt, socks.
*Ladies in jazz, modern, Broadway, and tap classes – a leotard must be worn to the studio AT ALL TIMES– you can wear leggings, or dance shorts (not gym shorts) over pink, tan, or black tights, but never shorts without tights underneath. Yoga/biker shorts of longer lengths may be worn without tights, but no shorter booty shorts without tights. Baggy T-shirts/sweatshirts should be removed after warmups.
