DanceStation:  March 2025 Newsletter

Recital Prep Time!!!!

Attendance.  Now that recital time is here, it is very important to have excellent attendance.  Please try your best to attend every class possible in these weeks that the dancers are learning their choreography. As stated earlier in the year, the week before the recital has several mandatory rehearsals that need to be attended, so mark your calendars now to be around the week before the performances!!!

The DanceStation App. If you are a new family since January, make sure you have our DS app. Its free on the Apple app store or on Google play. Just download the app and make sure you allow notifications. Also you can go into settings, apps, and change the notification banners to persistent. The app has all of our newsletters, calendar for the studio, and you can also log in to the parent portal and pay through the app as well. We do lots of reminders and notifications through the app leading up to recitals, so if you don’t have the app you will be missing important reminders!

Broadway for ballet 5 and 6 will start Thursday, April 3rd from 8-8:45pm, the cost is $25 per month April- June. We are dancing to New Money from The Great Gatsby. There will be a costume rental for this class. Sign up sheet is in the lobby.

Broadway Jr is for ballet levels 2-4 and will start Tuesday, April 1st from 4-5pm. It is a 9 week class/workshop and is $95 total, due on the first day of class. This includes a $30 costume rental for the recital. We are performing Popular from Wicked. Sign up sheet is in the lobby.

Spring Break is Tues April 15th – Mon April 21st (Tues – Easter Monday).  The studio calendar is located on the app if you are ever unsure.

A Costume deposit of $55 was due at the end of January, and the remaining balance owed will be added to your parent portal account at the end of March to be due with April tuition. To access your balance, just log into your parent portal on April 1st and it will show your costume balance. We try really hard to keep costume costs low, but costume prices have been rising in the last 3-4 years, mostly due to supply. Many costume companies have gone out of business in the past few years, so we don’t have as many options as we used to. That said, I really try and save everyone money by combining tap/jazz costumes when they are younger, or doing costume rentals for Broadway, modern, and some older tap classes wherever we can. Many studios charge $90-100 per costume for every dance.

** Even if you are enrolled in Auto-pay, you will still have to manually log in and pay your balance. Auto-pay only pulls tuition every month.**

Recital Picture Day is always the Sunday before the recital. This year that is Sunday, June 1stTimes for each class will be posted in early May, so please tell us of any huge conflicts before then (once the times are posted the schedule cannot change).

The week leading up to the recitals will have extra rehearsals/dress rehearsals here at the studio and at the Hett. There are no regular classes that week, just the larger full-cast rehearsals to work on our 2 different story ballets. We require a larger rehearsal in the big studio to put the ballets in the correct order before we head to the Hett (the auditorium we perform in).  It makes things much easier when we get to the Dress Rehearsals on stage.  Exact days/times will be in the April newsletter. We also included the mandatory rehearsal week in your recital contract you signed back in January, so that there would be no surprises.

Due to increased student numbers and last year’s nearly sold out performances, we have restructured the younger Ugly Duckling into two casts so that we don’t have to limit tickets to our families.  5 of our 3/4 yr, 5/6 yr, and combination Ballet/Tap/Jazz classes are in the Saturday at 1pm performance and the other 5 are in the Sunday at 1pm performance. You can look below to see which class is in which performance. We tried really hard to keep siblings together, however with almost 90 kids under the age of 7, there are a few families that have children in both shows. Ask your teacher for more info if you are one of those families.
