Costume Balance, Bway Jr, April News, Auto Pay

Costume Balance, Broadway Jr, April newsletter and April Auto pay

Don’t forget Broadway Jr starts today at 4pm! Costume balances are due this week, with April tuition. Auto-pay went through today for those that had not put in April tuition manually (some of you manually paid tuition when you paid your costume balance, so we did not charge you twice).  The April newsletter will live here in case you misplace your paper copy. It is being sent home with your dancer this week. Lots of important dates and recital info. I will post the summer flyers on our Facebook page and also the App tomorrow!

DanceStation:  April 2022 Newsletter

Attendance.  Now that recital time is here, it is very important to have excellent attendance.  Please try your best to attend every class these next 9 weeks. As stated earlier in the year, the week before the recital has several mandatory rehearsals that need to be attended so mark your calendars now!!!!

Make up classes- some teachers are holding make up classes over spring break or the weekend immediately following.  Your teacher will email you specifics.

Broadway Int will start Mon, April 4th and Broadway Jr Tues, April 5th

Spring Break is Tues April 12th – Mon April 18th.  The studio calendar is located on the app if you are ever unsure.

A Costume deposit of $55 was due in February, and the remaining balance owed was sent home last week.  It was also posted on your account through the Parent Portal, now accessible through our DanceStation App.  We try very hard to be creative and keep costume prices down, especially for the students involved in multiple classes.  Many of these classes will show a costume rental fee to avoid having to pay full price for multiple costumes, or a combined tap/jazz costume.  We will be selling recital tights again in May at the studio (pink, black, tan, and fishnet) – I can usually get them cheaper than the local dance supply stores.  Most ballet costumes will need pink tights, exceptions being Pirates, Lost Kids, Indian Maidens.  And most tap and jazz classes will need tan tights.  If you owe for missed tuition – please pay as soon as possible.  If your records indicate differently, please contact us ASAP.

Recital Picture Day is always the Sunday before the recital. This year that is Sunday, May 29th.  Times for each class will be posted in early May, so please tell us of any huge conflicts before then (after the times are posted the schedule cannot change). It is Memorial Day weekend, so please tell your teacher if you cannot attend.

The week leading up to the performance (Mon. May 30th – Wed June 1st) will have extra rehearsals here at the studio. There are no regular classes that week, just the larger rehearsals in the evenings in the big studio.  Because we put together 2 story ballets, we require a larger rehearsal in the big studio to put the ballet in order before we head to the Hett.  It makes things much easier when we get to the Dress Rehearsals on stage.  Exact days/times will be in the May newsletter.

Dress Rehearsals and recital days at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts are:

Thur June 2nd Fri June 3rd and Sat June 4thThur. June 2nd is the Dress Rehearsal for all Tap/Jazz/Modern/B-way classes dancing in Shake Rattle and Roll and Dance the Night Away. Fri. June 3rd Dress Rehearsal is for dancers in Under the Sea/Love Makes the World Go Round, and ballet/pointe classes in Peter Pan. Saturday, June 4th is recital day. Recital times are tentative and may be adjusted in the May newsletter (but only by ½ hour or so – it depends on run times for each show and breaks in between).

Sat. June 4th 11am   Under the Sea/Love Makes the World Go Round

Sat. June 4th 2pm   Peter Pan Ballet and Shake Rattle and Roll

Sat. June 4th 7pm  Peter Pan Ballet (ballet levels 6 and up only) and Dance the Night Away

There is no limit on purchasing tickets. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $10 for children 12 and under. Tickets will go on sale on Picture Day, Sunday May 29th – and can be purchased after your final tuition installment is paid. Why are you paying a June installment (10th installment for the year)? Because tuition in calculated by the semester and broken up into monthly installments for your convenience. 2nd semester has the same number of weeks as first semester.

The May newsletter will contain more information about picture day, extra rehearsals, dress rehearsals, recital times, ordering tights, tickets, flowers, DVD’s, picture cd’s, costumes, makeup, etc.

State Street Dance Company auditions.  The 2021-22 SSDC auditions will be on Friday, May 27th, from 5-6:30pm. Students in Ballet 5 and up are eligible or with permission from Elizabeth. Please wear a black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in a bun, and be prepared to do a ballet barre, ballet center, and contemporary floor combinations.  SSDC members meet on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons from August – Nov until the fall performance on Saturday, Nov. 19th.  If you would like more information about our student-based company, please ask Elizabeth or any of the current SSDC members.  It is hard work, but so much fun!  We strive to make our performances stand out as being very professional, and I have been so proud of our dancers these past few years.  We have many SSDC alumni dancers that go on to professional careers in dancing! It is truly a wonderful pre-professional group to be a part of.

Parent Volunteers:  I need many parent volunteers to make the recitals run smoothly.  We have a lot of dancers!!!

I will have a sign-up sheet available closer to the recital asking for help with sewing/adjusting costumes, concessions/bake sale (it’s back!!!), tickets, ushers, cleaning, gathering rental costumes after the shows, etc.  It takes a village, and we will definitely need help!
